Colour Combos 200 Blog Hop. Be our Guest Designer and a tutotial on layering.

Welcome to the Color Combos Galore 200th "Anniversary" Blog Hop! We hope by visiting the CCG Design Team members' blogs, you will be able to pick up some fun tips and techniques. Many of the team members will be offering prizes, so you will want to visit all of the blogs to increase your chances of winning some fun scrappy stuff.
We are also offering a chance at a Guest Designer spot for the month of August if you visit all of the blogs in our Blog Hop and participate in Challenge 200 by uploading your project to the CCG Gallery. It's so fun to get the colors before everyone else! Plus, who doesn't love to see their name in lights! The deadline for the chance to win these prizes is one week from today, Sunday, July 24, EST.

The CCG blog hop starts  here with me, BENTE.
If you want to do the hop in order so you can make sure not to miss anyone, the next stop is:

Cynthia Lloréns  I will add her link at the bottom of my post too!

Once you have visited all the blogs and uploaded a project to the CCG Gallery using Challenge 200, please make sure you check in at the Blog Hop discussion in the Special Announcements Forum at CCG. We will choose our August Guest Designer from that thread.

Individual DT members will be choosing winners for the prizes they are offering. Good luck, and we hope you'll enjoy our blog hop!

Many times people have asked 'how do you do that layering/distressing ?'

Recently I took some photos of my process as I was making a layout for "Your Scrapbook Stash" using a favourite line "The Girls Paperie"

The layout is not the same as in the reveal for number 200 but the technique is the same. I thought I would share that as my tip for this hop.

I hope you enjoy!

I will first show part of my you my finished piece and then some step by step photos.
I do not think I am very good at explaining and patience never was my forte when it comes to these kinds of things, but you shall know that I tried...LOL!

I hope the photos are quite self explanatory.

This is part of my layout again:

I first cut my  pp's to the right size.
I start with the 12X12 frame and add to that as I go.
I prefer to cut away the central pieces as that saves me part of some favourite papers and I end up with a layered piece that is not so fat.

As I add new layers I first make sure they are the right size by holding the next sheet over the last seam I made. I mark where the cut needs to go and I make sure I will have a piece that is big enough but I don't need to be very exact. I suppose you could measure out all the right dimensions, but I don't like to do that.

Next I add a little glue here and there so the next layer stays in place while I am sewing. It is important not to use to too much glue, just the minimum, otherwise you might clog your sewing machine.

I like to use a stitch that is not too narrow. If it is very narrow it will have an effect of cutting through the paper and we do not want that! For the best result you should try sewing on some paper to see what works best using your machine.

Now one more layer has been added. Once I have finish adding all the layers I need  I will start to bend and turn up all the edges and tear at some of them. It is nice to do more on some and less on others to give a varied look.
As I said I am quite lazy so I just add a little glue from a glue stick yo the back of my lo where I have cut off my threads. That way I know the seams will stay as I made them.

Here you can see an example of the kind of finish I am talking about.

As you can see EASY PEASY.....
Good luck to you. I hope I will see some examples of what you do with this technique!
Would be nice if you left me a link to your layout if you decide to try my tip!

Finally I will show you the layout for Combo 200 again.

To round off the long story I have planned a small gift for one of the people who comment on this post.
I would of course love it if you should decide to be a follower of my blog too!

Hopefully I will be back in a couple of days with a picture of my giveaway. I am off on vacations tomorrow and I am not sure how much internet I will have when I am away.I hope I will be able to post something at least!

Now maybe you would like to pay a visit to Cynthia Lloréns.  She is next on the list!

Don't forget to  check in  back at the CCG site after you complete the hop. That's in order to be included in  the draw for a guest DT spot for the month of August.
