Step-by-step tutorial for a deep frame using "Echo Park For the Record 2 Documnted"

Gosh, can you believe it is already October....Time really flies!!

I made this simple little tutorial for a monthly assignment over at My Scrapbook Nook and thought I would share it with you here as well.

" Hi, this is Bente with a post for you today.
This will be my last post as a DT member for 'My Scrapbook Nook'. It fills me with sadness
that it shall all come to an end within just a couple of days.

I will share with you my process for making this framed piece that was a birthday gift for
my cute god-daughter. I have taken photos of the step by step process:

I started out with a deep frame from Ikea.
I think it should be pretty easy to get hold of in many places of the world.

You can easily open up the back of the frame. You need to be able to add all your little bits and
pieces inside the square passepartout frame .

To start gather all the different papers and embellishments you want to use. As I am a very
impulsive scrappers I add mine as I go along, but that may not work for all of you.

I cut a large square to serve as the backing of the frame opening . Then I cut another square
to fit inside the opening with a little of the backing piece showing.

I want to add some texture to my paper with a mask.
I add a thick layer of gesso so I the pattern will be pronounced on the paper.
You must now leave the gesso to dry for a while.

While waiting for the gesso to dry you prepare your photo by adding a string of twine and
making a small bow. You might even look for  some more small embellishments like a
small flower or a jewellery finding in the shape of a heart like the one I used.

As soon as everything is dry you can start assembling the layers of paper etc.
In the above photo I have glued the base paper behind the opening, and in the next one you'll
see the green side of the paper underneath the yellow one.

It is now time to start building up the design by adding everything layer by layer.
I have embellished the rim of the freame with a fun washi tape. It's so easy to add, and if it goes on a little crooked you just lift it and start again.

You can see I like to add my layers with pop dots between them because I want a lot of dimension.
If you prefer a more flat design just stick everything directly on top.

I added my matted photo a little at an angle and used a lot of the stickers and chipboard  fom "For the Record 2" as decoration. To finish off the design I added a small banner along the top fastened with some red twine.

This is the look of my finished piece before placing it back in the frame.
I hope you like it and that you will give it a try. As you can see it is so easy but also quite
decorative. Because of the deep frame you may even add memorabilia to the display.
A pacifier, a toy car or a small teddy bear will easily fit inside the glass.
Thank you for your attention., and I hope we shall meet again somewhere in cyberspace :-)"

Thanks !

It's the Little Moments. "Echo Park For the Record 2" Nook kit.

Just a quick post today. We are nearing the end of the month and I still have a couple of projects left to share that I made with the September kit from "My Scrapbook Nook"

The picture is of Beatrice and Scott, the elderly dog of my sisters back in Norway. They became fast friends and Bea loved to spend time with him.

I felt like trying a different approach to my lo this time, and instead of spending a lot of time distressing , misting and layering this time I went for cutting matching and sewing!
I made a patchwork quilt out of all the pretty Echo Park Papers.

For embellishments I used many of the stickers off the embellishments sheets that came in the kit. I added some buttons and also the yellow twine from a previous kit.

I hope you like this even if it is a bit different from my usual style :-D ...
Now I have to be off. I am attending a fashion show at the store of one of our customers.
Should be fun!!

Nook tribute from the Nook-blog.

September is Nook tribute month at 'My Scerapbook Nook'.
Many people have developed a special relationship to the friendly 'Nook' and everybdy has been invited to write up a short piece about what the  place has meant to them. As for me, I have only been there a short while but have come to appreciate the friendship and support that the nookers share and also the great atmosphere there.

This is what I had to say:
"Although I am a fairly new addition to the design team here at the ’Nook’ I have come to love the friendly atmosphere and the warm reception of the forum/message board. All of you lovely members make this such a special place and I am sure going to miss it when it’s gone.
They say that all good things has to come to an end,…and this is definitely one of those good things. I have come to understand that to many people this is their ‘home’ on the internet and I shall be sad to see so many people being ‘homeless’.
I know we are trying to find new places to keep in touch and to chat, but I guess it will take some time until we ‘feel at home’ in a new place.
It is difficult to find something to replace what we have here!

I am just so grateful to Leah and Pam for having had confidence in me and I have utterly enjoyed my journey here at 'My Scrapbook Nook’ even if it was shorter than planned. I understand that there is a time for everything and that you ladies have decided to embrace new challenges. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I will share a few projects I made whilst on the team here:

Thanks so much and I hope we will continue running into eachother somewhere in cyberspace!
Hugs!! "

I still have a few more projects to share that I made with the gorgeous September kit. We certainly go out with a bang!!

Color Combos #226, and some good news...

Hi and welcome to have a look at the new challenge over at CCG.
This week is cards week, or actually you can create a tag or an off page project too, if you prefer.
I am sure you agree the colours are yummy for a spring card.

Take a look at the bright and lovely inspiration board and it will tell you all about this challenge.

I'd like to share with you the card I made for this one:

The patterned paper in the yellow/green colour is from a ledger pad by Prima and the sentiment is from The Scrapcake.

Not much more to say about this card. It is pretty straight forward... :-)

Now to my good news!

Some days ago I sent in my application to be part of the My Scrapbook Nook DT.
I had been thinking about it, but I am no good at getting applications or submissions sent and this being late in the evening on the due date, it did not look hopeful :-)

What made me do it was something I read . I think it was on the message board.
. Someone said "You never know what Leah is looking for...."
So I decided to give it a go. Maybe she is looking for me... :-D

Yesterday I found out I was on the shortlist....Which still is rather too long for my liking...LOL!
There are a lot of talented ladies with lovely styles who are very qualified for the team, so I am not taking anything for granted. If you know me you will know I am rather the opposite ...LOL!

Anyway it is cool to have made it this far and I will keep my fingers crossed and see what happens!

I am off to pick up my girls from the bus. They went to the cinema and left me in the house to scrap!
I hope your week end is a good one and that maybe you get to do some scrapping too.
Hugs!
