Week 4 of YSS at CCG Now # 177.

It's that day of the week again!
Time for another great color combo from ColorCombos Galore , this time #177.
Not an easy one I think but I am quite pleased with the overall end result.

I used a piece of patterned paper to make the leaves. Some flowers are hand made and the blue ones are from a local scrap shop. they didn't have a name. The birds are from a die by Quickutz. I sewed by hand around the more neutral coloured cardstock. The dotted doily is backed with white cardstock.

Here you can get a closer look.

That lovely key with the word Dreams on it is by Tim Holtz. Adorable.

Thanks for looking!

God put a rainbow in the clouds... CCG # 176

Now I finished my layout for this weeks combo at CCG.

I based it mostly on the sketch Alyssa created for the blog at Your Scrapbook Stash.

There are a lot of exciting things going on over there . Erica is celebrating the 4 years of the store with a bunch of exciting activities in the blog. Press here to see the racap of activities.

To see the fabulous creations of the other Stash Girls look here.

This is the layout I created :

In the previous post you can see the Colours and the Inspiration Board # 176.

I made the clouds from cardboard, inked the edges and painted them. I made an overlay from tulle and stuck the title on top.
The pleated ribbon is from Maya Road and I got it from the store at YSS.

I love buttons at the moment. When all else fail,... add some buttons, that is my new philosophy!

The funny head-gear that Beatrice is wearing is from a school play .
She had just come home and I had to take a picture.
Her big sister helped her make it at the last moment and I think it is kind of funny and cute.

I appreciate all your sweet comments!
Have a great day!

Colour Combos Galore # 176 / YSS week 3.

Such a lovely reveal!

These are the beautiful colours we get to play with this week. I did not finish my lo in  time for this one so I shall have to upload it later.

The colours make me think of Summer Sea and Sand!
What do you think ?

I'll be back soon!

YSS sponsoring Color Combos Galore # 175

This is the second week that Your Scrapbook Stash is sponsoring the challenges over at Color Combos Galore.
It is so fun to be guest designing there with the other Stash Girls.

This is the inspiration board for this weeks challenge.

The colours this week were a little more challenging for me than last weeks.
But hey, that is why these things are called challenges, right...?

After rummaging through my extensive stash I found some suitable papers and embellishments. It is quite a rough page. Everything is layered on top of a piece of cardboard that came with one of my orders of supplies from the states. I often like to use non-scrapbook products. It is afterall quite important to think green. But of course it is impossible to go without the smell of new papers and beautiful embellishments for long!

I punched holes and 'laced' black tulle to mimic the shoelaces. I made quite a few  flowers and I glued down a good number of little buttons. To make some of them stand out I outlined them with a pen.

The black bird is from a QK-die.Posted by Picasa

I cut out a piece of magic mesh that would fit in the corner of my layout. I thought it would add dimension to the right side.
There is even magic mesh as part of the photo mat. I received it as a gift from a friend. Thanks Irma!

Bye for now. Come back soon!!

Guest designing at Color Combos Galore

The Stash Girls were invited to guest design for the awsom site Colour Combos Galore.
I am sure many of you already know it, but it is a weekly challenge site that provides the most succulent of colour combinations!

This is the gorgeous combo to work with this week.

My take on this weeks challenge is a dream in pink, that very nearly turned into a nightmare...!
How much is too much, and how much is enough,...that was my problem...LOL!
Still, a lot of distressing and painting and crinkling of paper.
I wanted to achieve a lot of texture.

The theme, apart from the palette, this week is butterflies. I was lucky to have these unscrapped photos of Beatrice from this spring when we went to London. We spent a whole maevellous day at the fantastic Natural Science Museum. I don't know who had the most fun but I know we both enjoyed it immensely!!

Outside the museum they had a temporary exhibition of tropical butterflies. I know I enjoyed that more than my daughter. As I explain in the Swedish journaling she thought they looked ugly close up.

The photo with the blue of the butterfly showing through was edited in Picasa.

I used different Thickers for my title. Flowers are Prima, with the exception of some smaller one that I made.

I tried to count the layers. In one place I found I had used eight or possibly nine layers. I had so much fun....

I always like to photograph my layouts with a bit of sunshine. I find it makes for such great shadows........
