Rapunzel "The Girls Paperie" for Your Scrapbook Stash and a sketch from Scrapgalen

Hi my creative friends!
Long time no see.. I know it has been quiet on the Western front, but I blame it on the time of year!

The first part of June is like the first part of December in many ways. On the 24th this month we celebrate Midsummer here in the north and that is a celebration second only to Christmas in our part of the universe.

I shall be going to a very lovely place and celebrate with good friends. Peace and quiet are key elements there and I will share some pictures when I am back on Monday so you can see where we spend this week end.

In my DT kit from Your Scrapbook Stash this month I received gorgeous stuff from "The Girls Paperie" a collection I have loved since I first saw it. Both papers and embellishments are so so beautiful.
I heard recently that Advantus, and Margie who has been the creative force behind TGP, will not be producing any more collections  so this is the last season for them. But I am sure she will be designing for someone else soon and this will be fabulous too!

The layout is about Beatrice and how she is getting tired of peolple coming up to her and always talking about her long hair.

I made this layout for the previous challenge at  "The Paper Variety, but forgot to upload it.
The challenge last week was to use two types of alphabets. My word  'Rapunzel' was actually stuck on acetate and raised with pop dots above the black letters, but it did not photograph well.

I even used the sketch from Swedish blog of Scrapgalen as a base fro my layout.

This is the sketch

I used dark cardstock to back my doilies and added a little glitter to my pink flower. I broke out my trusted old sewing machine and used it all round the edge. I even used it for different details on the page.

The bling is such a sweet addition to the page I find. In this case I used a larger swirl and cut it into three and distributed the smaller swirls on my page. Sometimes it is ok to be a frugal scrapper! lol...

From the other end it looks like this:

One of the papers had these cute bird cages all over so I cut out a few and made 'ribbon' from pink paperstrips  to hang them from.
I also used two different Martha Stewart punches. Lately my favourite seems to be the lace one.

I used strips for my journalling and on top of the doily I used a dry brush to add a tiny amount of white to tone down the stark black behind the doilies.

I love all these feminine elements , and I love the beautiful daylight that lets me photograph my layouts when I like! That's we we love midsummer so much in the Scandinavian Countries. It's for the light!

One more close-up for today.

Thank you for visiting me. Finally I was able to post again.I would have posted a day earlier only we had a fierce summer rain last night when I was writing my post and that took my internet from me....So I had to redo a large part of the post again this morning.
Don't be shy to leave me a message. I love reading them!

To my Swedish friends;

(Happy Midsummer!)

  1. this is such a pretty layout... and look at that beautiful hair... Midsummer.. wow, I couldnt imagine what it would be like to have light all the time.. does that mean in winter that you have dark all the time too??

  2. OH MY how gorgeous & long is your Daughters hair!!! FABBO...
& a Beautiful Layout you have created, love the colors....

  3. Just gorgeous, beautiful and feminine love the details!......

  4. Wow she really does have extremely long hair, my DD would be so jealous, whilst hers is long it doesn't seem to grow past a certain point. So beautiful. Love the soft papers that you used for this layout and how you have zigzaged stitched not only around the LO but down the strip as well. Its all just beautiful!!!

  5. Wowwwwwwwwwwwww! This is GORGEOUS! I loveeeeeeee that photo, the pearls, the flowers, the birdcages!! Just BEAUTIFUL! :):):):):):):):):):):):):)

  6. I hope you don't keep her in a tower ! Your layout is gorgeous ! I love it !

  7. Midsummer sounds absolutely glorious in your part of the world! Here we complain when in winter it is dark by 5.30 in the evening! To us that is too early!! Enjoy your weekend celebrating Scandinavia in all it's beauty :) Love this pretty layout of your little Rapunzel - how you cope with all that hair...well hat's off to you! My little one has long hair too but not as long as that! And it is fine so to wash & dry it every second day is not such a big deal - it gets greasy if we leave it longer than that - already at 10 would you believe!? As for TGP - very sad about that - I loved that & still have it - and the new one is okay but not as nice IMO & I am slightly nervous to order it in case it is also shortlived. The blog is under construction & I will make my decision based on the reader interaction on that. I like manufacturers that interact with us blogger scrapbookers :)

  8. Oh my word Bente....your daughter's hair is incredible!! No wonder people come up to her to discuss it. :) Your layout is absolutely the doilies and how you backed them up with dark the bling, those gorgeous flowers, the stitching, the beautiful border punched pieces and the birdcages...fantastic layout for an amazing head of hair! :)
Have a wonderful weekend away..looking forward to seeing the pictures.

  9. I love the idea of your Midsummer ...gorgoeus lo and just love that sketch Bente....enjoy your weekend
    Lindy xo

  10. YAY! Finally the rains have subsided and Midsummer's Eve sees a sunny start! Hoppas ni har det riktigt soligt och torrt där ni är Bente! Vi håller oss lugnt och stilla på hemmplan, också med go'e vänner som delar sillen. Oh dear me, no more TGP?! that's pouring petrol on fire for a hoarder like me, now I simply have to save their latest/last collection just in case. Absolutely beautiful girlie page my dear, love all the sweet pretty elements and hey, the stitching looks fab too! Bea DOES have the most magnificent head of hair possible so no wonder people comment it. That punch is my fave too, have used it so much it's worn out and doesn't work any longer :((( Really neat sketch and you did fab with it. Ha det gott vännen! xoxox
