Color Combos # 220, A card for one of my beautiful sisters.

Hi friends!
I am posting this quickly as I am off on a business trip to Milan for a few days to buy a new product line for our company.
I am so going to enjoy  Spring on the Piazza del Duomo sipping some great Italian coffe with some delicious gateau in the bright sunlight. The wonderful marble cathedral right in the middle of the piazza is just unreal, and to the right lies the playground of the rich and famous, The Galleria of Vittorio Emanuele II. Oh well, looking never hurt anyone,... LOL!
We are hopefully getting a behind the scenes tour of Teatro Alla Scala as well (if they have opened those for the year. Maybe they won't until April).

And of course there will be a lot of hard work as always, but at least this time we have taken the extra day...

This week we would love to see some cards from you posted to Mr. Linky at Color Combos Galore!

The designers challenge is to use a fun or festive sentiment.

As I was going to make a card for one of my sisters I chose a sweet quote that was suitable for that.
My sister is really the best sister you could ever have and I love her to bits!!
I hope she will like my card!
Her birthday is in a couple of weeks time and I will send it to her.
I know she is a follower of my blog so I guess it will be no secret to her....LOL!

I took some extra inspiration from the pink little clutch bag deciding on the shape and form of my card. I started out with a piece of cardstock that I embellished with a borderpunch. I cut out a piece of patterned paper to stick to the inside and added my quote, my message and my embellishments.
I wanted the flowers to show even when the card was closed.

I used some twine to keep my 'envelope' shut.

This is what the finished card looks like.

A final close up of the twine closure that ends in a small rosette. So very simple!

Now I am off to get some winks before getting  up very bright and early, to go across the bridge to Denmark, where we will catch the plane for Italy.
I'll catch up with you on my return! Be safe until then!!

Color Combos # 221 "Longing for Spring"

Hi all!
I am having a hard time catching up here.

Yesterday Janet posted the new colours on the CCG blog, (now on Blogger btw).
You may wonder; 'already..?',  but we have some catching up to do and I  hope you'll have a chance to do one or two of the recent challenges.
There is still time. You can find them HERE

This is the beautiful inspiration board that Janet designed for us:

And this is the page I made about us looking forward to Spring after this long grey Winter.

Because we had some catching up to do I did not have much time for my page and made a few 'bloopers'.I wanted to paint my wooden letters from Pink Paislee in green. I found a pot of beautiful perfect green colour and did the job. As I was in a hurry I glued down my letters before they were dry.
I shouldn't have...!
I looked at my page a couple of minutes later and the letters were screaming at me,:
"we are the wrong colour!!!"

Lesson learnt: Paint will change it's colour after it is dry. I knew that!!

Ok, so what to do...?
I grabbed my white ink pad and used it all over the letters. It took down the very green colour but it still isn't the green I needed. Oh well, it will have to do.
I learned to wait for the paint to dry, but really,
Who likes to stand around watching paint dry,...LOL?

For wooden elements I used the wooden sticks that are really for stirring your coffe, and the cat shape I bought from a Polish online store. And of course the 'Woodshop' wooden letters from Pink Paislee.

We are all looking forward to Spring. Our little kitty has refused to go outside all Winter even though she was outdoors all Summer and Autumn. She thinks it's too cold and grey.

I love the latest dies I bought from Spellbinders. They are so so pretty!

And the doily ones are my trusted friends from Cheery Lynn.

Most of the papers I used here are from Les Papiers de Pandore. And I have used a mix of three different  collections.
I am off to work now and I wish you all a wonderful day!

CCG #219 "Kitty Love" "Authentique" "Uncommon"

,
Finally it's time again for a new colourful combination from Color Combos Galore.
Due to Janet suffering some very sad family events we have had a couple of weeks delay in posting the challenges, BUT NOW WE ARE BACK!! So sorry for your loss Janet!

We have some new colours for you this week as it is layouts/altered item/mini album week.
The news around CCG since we moved to Blogger is that we work with the same colours for two weeks, but have different design prompts, and week two is cards week.

This is the layout I created with the new colours.

And this is the inspiration board that you will need to take a closer look at :

I used one of my favourite collections lately called "Uncommon", which was made by "Authentique Paper". I also used some embossed white paper for my background and that green paper making up  a frame is from "Echo Park" "Victoria Gardens"

I made a few lollipop flowers as this was the designers challenge this time. They are so easy to make, but I did not have a ny material in the right shades so I took the easy way out and made mine white.
At least you can say it goes with everything!

I used an older premade die cut title from MME as it was the perfect colour match for the pink.
I just added the word kitty in some "Doodlebug" stickers

The journalling is just a few words about Beatrice still keeping interest in her little pet after more than a year. I did not expect anything less but, hey,..it's still good news!!
We all have a soft spot for that little furball!

Take care 'til next time!

My layout "Beauté" and a sketch from the webzine.

I made this layout a little while back and it was in the latest webzine from Les Papiers de Pandore.
I used the new collection called "Perfum de Camélias", and I think I used a bit of almost every piece of the collection.

I may have gone a bit overboard here with my flowers and my fanfolds,...LOL!

I cut the frame from one pattered paper and placed it over the green paper.
I used a heart punch from Martha Stewart for the border on the pink paper.
I wanted the hearts to stand out more so I backed them with a darker colour.
After layering the pink paper on top and glueing it only down the middle so the sides would be loose, I added my doilies down each sideunderneath the heart border edges.

I love doing fanfolded rosettes with a striped paper because hey all turn out so different.
If you have not tried it I think you should, because it is great fun!

Of course I ad to add some pretty flowers to my page. These are a mixture of Prima and others from my stash.

I love this photo of Beatrice with her long braids. It was one of the last ones we took before she cut off most of her long lovely hair. (Although some would maybe say it is quite long still...)

Finally I will share the sketch that Julie made for this page, The picture is a page from the webzine:

Enjoy your day! Today is a wonderful cold Spring day here.
Thanks for any comments in advance. You know we all love reading them!!
