Layout for the Color Room # 64 "Beauty Blooms From Within"

This week we are not required to create for the challenge reveal at CCG due to the DT Call .
You can read about that in the yesterdays post. Just scroll down a little bit...

I am using the beautiful kit that Erica sent me from Your Scrapbook Stash and this month it was full of "The Girls Paperie" goodness. I just adore everything she sent me!!

The papers and gorgeous embellishments that  I received turned out to be quite perfect for the challenge at The Color Room this week.

This is my take on the palette # 64:

The layout is done on a base of stitched layers. I love the look of it.
And here is the current palette and sketch. I  did not use the sketch this time, but many times I find it is such a great way to get started!

Isn't this gorgeous.? The colours just scream Summer to me...

Here are some close ups of my layout:

I used the Kitsch Market trims to embellish my layout. I also had the Vintage Whimsy Glitter Charms.
All the contents are just so adorable and perfect for a girl's layout.

I used the narrowest of the Trims to fasten the little charm in the shape of a tiny little cage. The other shape is a clock face and you get six altogether.

The red glitter trim at first reminded me of Christmas, but I decided that I was not going to wait six months before using it,...so I chose to use it now and add some whimsy to my page.

I did a lot of layering and stitching of my different layers.
I love the look of the stitched upturned slightly distressed papers.

In this picture you can see what the red glitter trim brings to my layout. It puts a smile on my face at least!
The lacy border was made using a Martha Stewart border punch.

I took so many photos of my layout I don't really think you need to see them all,..lol.... but for those who made it all the way to the end here's a small collage of the different corners of my page.
As I know that "The Girls Paperie" will not continue as a brand and part of Advantus I am now off to hoard some more of their products. :-D
Hope to see you soon again!!

Design Team Call for Color Combos Galore.

Lets talk about  the DT call for Colour Combos Galore. Time is about to run out. I have been away all week end so I have been a bad blogger. I bet you are itching to hear about the call if you have not already read about it on the CCG site.
This week the designers got time off and Janet had prepared a new kind of inspiration board.

Among some of our retirees, we say goodbye to our dearest Lesley Langdon, Julianne "Jules" McKenna-De Lumen, Roree Rumph, and Piradee Talvanna. I will be announcing the others as the week goes by. Thank you ladies, I am so proud to of had you here with me, I wish you all the best and even more success as you move on.

Again, just to be clear, this is not and there is no challenge for this week.

This is the Inspiration Board for the Design Team Call, I ask that you please do not upload your projects for this Color Combo to the Gallery.

I am however extending the deadline for all the June challenges. So if you are wanting to play this week, you might want to catch up on 195, 196, and 197. During this special week you can still create for these specific challenges and still be eligible for this month's sponsor giveaway....YAY!

Rapunzel "The Girls Paperie" for Your Scrapbook Stash and a sketch from Scrapgalen

Hi my creative friends!
Long time no see.. I know it has been quiet on the Western front, but I blame it on the time of year!

The first part of June is like the first part of December in many ways. On the 24th this month we celebrate Midsummer here in the north and that is a celebration second only to Christmas in our part of the universe.

I shall be going to a very lovely place and celebrate with good friends. Peace and quiet are key elements there and I will share some pictures when I am back on Monday so you can see where we spend this week end.

In my DT kit from Your Scrapbook Stash this month I received gorgeous stuff from "The Girls Paperie" a collection I have loved since I first saw it. Both papers and embellishments are so so beautiful.
I heard recently that Advantus, and Margie who has been the creative force behind TGP, will not be producing any more collections  so this is the last season for them. But I am sure she will be designing for someone else soon and this will be fabulous too!

The layout is about Beatrice and how she is getting tired of peolple coming up to her and always talking about her long hair.

I made this layout for the previous challenge at  "The Paper Variety, but forgot to upload it.
The challenge last week was to use two types of alphabets. My word  'Rapunzel' was actually stuck on acetate and raised with pop dots above the black letters, but it did not photograph well.

I even used the sketch from Swedish blog of Scrapgalen as a base fro my layout.

This is the sketch

:

I used dark cardstock to back my doilies and added a little glitter to my pink flower. I broke out my trusted old sewing machine and used it all round the edge. I even used it for different details on the page.

The bling is such a sweet addition to the page I find. In this case I used a larger swirl and cut it into three and distributed the smaller swirls on my page. Sometimes it is ok to be a frugal scrapper! lol...

From the other end it looks like this:

One of the papers had these cute bird cages all over so I cut out a few and made 'ribbon' from pink paperstrips  to hang them from.
I also used two different Martha Stewart punches. Lately my favourite seems to be the lace one.

I used strips for my journalling and on top of the doily I used a dry brush to add a tiny amount of white to tone down the stark black behind the doilies.

I love all these feminine elements , and I love the beautiful daylight that lets me photograph my layouts when I like! That's we we love midsummer so much in the Scandinavian Countries. It's for the light!

One more close-up for today.

Thank you for visiting me. Finally I was able to post again.I would have posted a day earlier only we had a fierce summer rain last night when I was writing my post and that took my internet from me....So I had to redo a large part of the post again this morning.
Don't be shy to leave me a message. I love reading them!

To my Swedish friends;

HA EN GLAD MIDSOMMAR!!
(Happy Midsummer!)

Color Combos Galore # 197 , Door sign

Hello my friends.
I hope life is good to you at the moment. Here in my part of the world  Summer has just arrived and the days are longer and warmer. Which is what we long for during the dark six months of the year.
Daylight is sooo awesome and could never be overrated.
I had a slightly extended deadline for CCG this week and it was soo cool to be able to go outside and photograph my page when I finished it at eight o'clock in the evening. I loved this weeks yummy colours but with all the family commitments this time of year as well as different assignments it had to be something fairly quick this week.
I so missed taking part last week. I am hoping that I will be getting back into the swing of things and come around to all your lovely blogs and see what you have been up to.
I have a feeling you lead just as busy lives as I do.

This is my door hanger I was telling you  about.
We are supposed to 'stamp' on our photos in one way or the other this week.
I used a couple of rub on words to embellish mine..
You can choose to do it digitally or with 'real' stamps. You can read more about the designer challenge on the inspiration Board.

This is the Inspiration Board for us this week. Don't you just LOVE the colours...?
Maybe not SO much if you are scrapping for boys, but you can always keep the pink to a minimum,- like a brad or something.

The pink patterned paper I used for my base is "Emmas Shoppe" and the butterfly is a lazer cut chipboard from Imaginarium Designs. I told you before but would like to do it again, they are sponsoring the Once Upon A...Sketch challenge blog DT with these precious embellishments for the whole year! So generous!!
I have also added flowers button and a doily from my stash.

Finally a little close up of all the goodies I managed to fit into this tiny space...lol!

That's all for today friends.
I am hoping to see work from quite a few of you over at Colour Combos Galore soon!!

Take care and come back soon!

New sketch at Once Upon A...Sketch / Tidbitz in Time

Time for a new sketch challenge at OUAS!
These sketches are so great I am not surprised so many of you love them... I love them too!

As usual we have an awesome guest designer, this month it is the lovely Emeline Seet. And we have the talented Lene from Norway who was the winner of the previous challenge. The sponsor this month is fabulous Webster's Pages and in a day or two we shalll share pages from their designers guest designing for OUAS. How exciting!
I received the June kit from Wendy at "Tidbitz in Time" and it has been such a pleasure to work with.
I got a bit carried away and did not save much to use on my June 15th page, but with the leftovers from the kit and some bits and bobs I managed to get a page done.Almost everything is from the kit.

Here's my page:

And here you can see the sketch and read all about the diferent requirements.
This is what Nadia had to say:

June 15th Challenge

Journalling Criteria: The theme 'A Moment In Time'. You can interpret this any way you like, but you must journal at least 4 sentences on why your pictures are memorable.

The sketch is very versatile in that you can turn it around any way you like and it will look good.

Soo looking forward to seeing what you will do with it.

Here are a couple of close ups of my page:

Thank you  for looking in. I so appreciate your little visits and especially if you leave me a little message so I know you were here.
Bye for now!

Some photos of my pretties!!

With this kind of beauty in my garden, are you surprised I love it??

Just a shame my poor garden is so neglected. I had to take close ups so you wont be disturbed by all the weeds. I just love this time of year when everything is at its most beautiful!!

I hope you enjoyed the eye candy. Go outside and enjoy the sunshine. :-D

"Basic Grey" *Hello Luscious* "Sweet scent of Summer"

I am still having a lot of issues with my Blogger account. I have heard from several of you dear peeps that your efforts at leaving comments on this blog have been in vain, so to speak!

The recent days I have had more traffic to my blog than ever but I am sad to say that I have hardly received any of the little messages that I have come to look for with excitement!! :-D Some of you have tried three or four times, and I really appreciate that and thank you for your persistence!!
Blogger will not let me post from Picasa either I get ERROR.

Oh well, enough ranting,... I hope this will work now!  Last time there was this widespread trouble I downloaded Google Chrome and today I decided I will use that instead to see if that will improve anything.. Fingers crossed!

I have been doing a few pages lately with the still rather new Basic Grey called hello Luscious. It was part of the kit that Erica W from Your Scrapbook Stash sent me.

Photos were taken last year in Pheaony season, which is right now too. The whole garden is full of the most delicious scent of roses. I love to bring the flowers inside too in huge bouquets!

I photographed my page outside in the garden with one of my real life pretties as a prop. Gorgeous plants, aren't they!!
I would love to show you some pictures of the rows and rows of paeonies we have, but as I have been scrapping and not gardening I don't really think my poor neglected garden is quite ready for the world wide web...LOL! Honestly I don't know if it will ever be... :-D

Between the borders of pretty Basic Grey papers I stuck half doilies as mats for my sweet  gardenias.
The awsome chipboards you see are from Imaginarium Designs and quite possibly the best lazer cut chipboards EVER!! We are so lucky in the Once Upon A...Scrap design team to be sponsored by Jane T with the beautiful chipboard for the whole year!! Isn't that awesome ...

I love the cute little wooden buttons with twine in them. Even the corrugated alphabet is really cool and they were part of my kit from Your Scrapbook Stash.

I painted the corrugated letters from Jillibean Soup and backed them with some green cardstock.
I placed the title on top of some fussy cut flowers from one of the pp's. I raised the whole thing with pop dots.
This way my title has many layers and becomes a design element in it's own right.
The tiny letter stickers are Basic Grey too.

Thanks for having the patience with me all the way to  the end!!

I wish you all a wonderful relaxing week end!!

"Jillibean Soup" "Strawberry Soup" with flowers and corrugated cardboard!!

I have scrapped this photo before in a wallet size. I  love the French Riviera look of it and decided to use it again. i photographed it on an old weatherbeaten table top in my garden.

Erica from Your scrapbook Stash sent me Jillibean Soup to work with last month and I still have some more of it left. I have been stretching the papers by cutting away pieces where it can not be seen. Erica always sends me such awsome DT kits!!

I distressed all the edges and painted with white gesso along all sides as well as a little wearing and  tearing.
I measured out the piece of cardboard I needed and even painted that. I had a round piece of pp that I cut away from my "Blue Eyed Boy" layout in the previous post.
I divided that in two and added the halves  at each side, together with half of a doily.
I made a pleated flower, but I don't really like how the colour appears in this photo. It looks a lot better IRL. I added some of my new mulberry flowers that I bought off the Internet and some word stickers from the Jillibean sticker sheet.
The awsome little twig or swirl, I don't know what to call the beauty, is by Imaginarium Designs. They manufacture the most beautiful lazer cut chipboard shapes and are sponsoring us on the OUAS design team the whole year. How is that for GENEROUS!!!!?
If you want to buy the chipboards, or start by having a closer look at them, you go HERE to Seriously Scrapbooking.

I painted the chipboard with my white paint and added it to balance off my other embellishments. I even added some sweet pink half pearls to add more softness to my design.

Erica also sent me a sheet of white corrugated chipboards from Jillibean Soup. They are so pretty and versatile. I painted them with my green jenni Bowlin paint dabber from Your Scrapbook Stash and then inked them so they would show off more on the page.

I added some thin twine to a few buttons, and I think thats it really.....
Here are a couple of more close ups for you!

I actually love the combo of the pink with the green. I must do that again.

I hope you have enjoyed what I had to share today.

I would love for you to leave a comment if you are here.

Yesterday my blog had more than 200 hits which is almost a record for me. But I was so sad because I could not see where you came from and for several hours people could not comment. Seemed like commenting was part of a lottery!
From time to time I like to watch the Feedjit feed moving, buy mine did not move. Today it is a little better as at least one or two visits show up on the chart.....grr %%^>><!##4#¤ grrr...
I have spent literally hours too, trying to comment on beautiful submissions for OUAS with no help at all from Mr. Blogger!! Enough now!!
Hope it will be better tomorrow!

Thanks for visiting

Blue eyed Boy, "Jillibean Soup" "Strawberry Soup"

Today I have another layout to share with you!
The photos were taken two or three years ago at a restaurant in the harbour. (We live near the coast).
The sweet little boy is Rex and I am his aunt. I have had these photos laying there for the longest time and now was the time to scrap them.
It seems there are long lapses of time between getting the scrapworthy shots of my two eldest daughters, and I have been doing SO many pages with Beatrice lately. But I shall soon be back to my Beatrice with cat photos because to me they are so cute!!!

These papers etc were sent to me by Erica at Your Scrapbook Stash.
The papers are from "Jillibean Soup" the collection is "Strawberry Soup" and they are all printed on Kraft paper. I think I read somewhere that they are more environmentally friendly, too.
The little wooden buttons are also from the store and by Maya Road. And if you order twine from Your Scrapbook Stash it arrives on these cute little spools, that you then can use for your craft projects! How cool is that!!

Some close ups now:

You can see the Monday Markdowns HERE if you would like to order some new supplies at Your Scrapbook Stash!!

That's all I have time for no my bloggy friends, I am off to work in a few minutes!!

Take care!!
