YSS sponsoring Color Combos Galore # 175

This is the second week that Your Scrapbook Stash is sponsoring the challenges over at Color Combos Galore.
It is so fun to be guest designing there with the other Stash Girls.

 This is the inspiration board for this weeks challenge.

The colours this week were a little more challenging for me than last weeks.
But hey, that is why these things are called challenges, right...?

After rummaging through my extensive stash I found some suitable papers and embellishments. It is quite a rough page. Everything is layered on top of a piece of cardboard that came with one of my orders of supplies from the states. I often like to use non-scrapbook products. It is afterall quite important to think green. But of course it is impossible to go without the smell of new papers and beautiful embellishments for long!

I punched holes and 'laced' black tulle to mimic the shoelaces. I made quite a few  flowers and I glued down a good number of little buttons.To make some of them stand out I outlined them with a pen.

The black bird is from a QK-die.

I cut out a piece of magic mesh that would fit in the corner of my layout. I thought it would add dimension to the right side.

There is even magic mesh as part of the photo mat. I received it as a gift from a friend. Thanks Irma!

TCR # 40 At the last minute...again!

For those of you who have not seen this weeks palette, please go back to the previous post.
With an all brown palette this week , let me say I was in no hurry to get started this week. However, as I got going , I feet it went quite well. At least better than I feared. Lol!

We have quite a good size garden with several fruit-trees. Beatrice had been waitng for this apple to be ready for her to pick. The smallest of the trees actually have the tastiest apples!

I had great trouble finding anything brown in my stash, as I am normally a 'colour-girl'.
Found some older Prima and K&Co. I got some bookpages from my eldest DD that I stuck behind the photos. Originally I had a sepia photo, but that was too much of tone-in-tone for me! I printed out these pics of Beatrice and they made the page pop a little more. Maybe because of the colour of the apple.

I held the brown  Prima pp under running water to make it soft. I crinkled  it and let it dry. I then  ironed it to make it flat.While wet it almost disintegrated, but after it dried it was firmeragain. The pretty ribbon has got wire in it so it can easily be shaped. I think it adds a feminine touch to all the brown. -Together with the Maya Road and Prima flowers of course.
The adorable little brown roses and the ribbon were gifts from my friend Irma in the US. Thank you so much!

This is a close up of the right hand side.

Here you can see some of the texture. I have used up to nine layers altogether. I have to apologize for the poor quality of the photos due to the dark conditions outside.

In this photo you can appreciate the pleating used for the photo mat. I did it freehand , but I recommend that you measure out lines to make the work more accurate.

New palette at TCR and Top 3 at Two Peas .

This weeks palette at TCR is a challenge indeed! This month the sponsor is Shimmerz. I do not have anything in my stash that is remotely close to the colours. As you may have noticed I tend to go more for the pastels and brights.
That said the palette makes for beautiful creations. You can check out the Gallery to see beautiful work from the members.
I will see what I can do. But I only have until Thursday night.

Second part of this post consists of a little braggin'...

I was adding some los to my Two Peas Gallery (older and newer).
My Hot Chocolate lo made it all the way to Top 3 both bookmarked and liked. During the evening it was even number four most viewed. Not a very big huge thing, but I was pleased. From my very first tiny scrap-steps I have enjoyed watching the Top 3 first thing upon entering Two Peas Territory.
As goes for the lo it is definitely not my favourite. But that just goes to show that we are all different with different tastes!

Smile and the world will smile right back at you!!

A recent lo I made about my youngest DD.

She turned 10 in November and have left a little message for her in the envelope. It is just an ordinary envelope that I have punched with a border-punch.

The journaling says that despite what they say about ten-year-olds her disposition is almost always one to make us happy and proud.

The tissue-flower is by Prima as is the other red one. Plastic bird on popdots is American Crafts.

I used a lot of white paint as usual.

The 'lace' around the edge is the outer rims of a couple of doilies that I cut off and glued to the shape I cut from a PP.

The musical paper is from October Afternoon. The white flowers I got from my LSS.The tag under my journalling is also OA.

The brads used to keep the envelope sealed I also got from my local scrap shop.
